CG CMa is a difficult object. It is not very easy to separate
the variable from the close companion, and we would have no need
to reject/withdraw observations in combined light. See IBVS 4760
for more.
The object is suspected to be a WZ Sge-type dwarf nova.
The existence of He II emission (IBVS 4759) during outburst would
also strengthen this possibility (not very frequently seen in
usual SU UMa-type dwarf novae, contrary to what would be inferred
from the text).
If ASAS-3 detections were real, it is a surprise to see so many
outbursts in a WZ Sge-type dwarf nova. Given the difficulty in
a crowded field, we should need to examine ASAS image data before
drawing a conclusion. The last confirmed outburst was in 1999
as described in above reference.
