Well, an arxiv of some new SDSS CVs came out a week or so ago and I haven't checked against that as of yet, so one or two of these might be in said, they might not.

Anyway, this link

<http://nesssi.cacr.caltech.edu/catalina/20050301/SDSSCV2.html>

Shows some SDSS objects with cataclysmic binary type spectra that were not previously known in the 'official' lists thereof.

The Catalina CRTS team, I believe primarily Andrew Drake, came across these in the course of their personal researches, and the above link will lead to the lightcurves of the objects via the last column of the table and the SDSS spectra from the link in the penultimate column.

Two of them ain't overly gripping photometrically (well, not currently at least), but the first one has the characteristics of something normally being in a high state being in a temporary low state at present and/or at least about a month ago :-

Whether this is a VY Scl subtype in rare low state, or a Polar in temporary low state, some other novalike subtype, or whatever, won't be clear from that lightcurve as it is cannot show how typical it is for the object to enter low states.

The emission lines from the spectrum ain't overly strong though, and the continuum's pretty flat with no evident absorption, like a filled in DA star I suppose. Me and spectral interpretation ain't the best of pals.

Note where they are noted, note their identities, note that they are given freely to the public domain.

Cheers

John
