Those who monitor the Catalina Realtime Transient Survey via webpages or RSS feeds or wherever will have noticed that a new candidate CV has been reported by the service, see for example this webpage :-

http://nesssi.cacr.caltech.edu/catalina/BrightCV.html

currently topmost entry.

Odds and sods of extra info include a GSC 1.x detection of the object at mag 14.8 on 20th April 1982, probably from POSS II, whilst the POSS I mag is around 18 in red and blue; a ROSAT faint xray source within half an arcmin, albeit one with an estimated positional error just less than half that of the actual apparent catalogue distances apart; probably no detection in ASAS3 data, which plumps for a nearby (~ half an arcmin) field star of about 14th mag as the only 'catch' in the area.

CRTS lightcurve accessible via above, then hover the mouse over the datapoints to see date and mags top left of browser window, and the above table also has a linkout to the SDSS summary page for the object which is complete with SDSS photometry, but doesn't look like there's a spectrum.

Cheers

John
