Possible recurrent nova in the LMC

According to CBAT's Unconfirmed Observations page and AVSON information,
W. Liller has discovered a possible nova (mag 10.6) in the LMC.
The object is located close to the recorded position of Nova LMC 1971b
= LMCV3958 according to Mati Morel.

054035.2 -664035 (2000.0) LMCV3958 N 13. (14. 41180:(1971) - - (NOVA) Nova

In addition to spectroscopic observations, photometric time-series
observations are also encouraged because this object is likely CV-type
binary (such as U Sco etc.) rather than a symbiotic recurrent nova.
Light modulations during outburst might provide crucial information
of the underlying binary, as in U Sco and IM Nor.
