SDSS J140429.37+172359.4: large-amplitude irregular modulation

   Pavol A. Dubovsky (as reported earlier) and Josch Hambsch reported
time-series photometry.  All the data during the outburst showed
large-amplitude variation.  A period analysis of the combined data set
did not show any underlying periodicity.  The situation is quite similar
to IQ Eri as already suggested.

   The outburst may have been on an intermediate polar, potentially
leading to a very abrupt quenching of the outburst due to the truncated
disk.  Further detailed observation in quiescence and spectroscopy in
outburst will help understanding the object.
