Hello,

and sorry for the late alert,

CTCV J1300-3052 is a cv of unknown type, which has been monitored from CBA Pretoria since its discovery.

This cv has had outbursts but the observations were not dense enough to probe the interval between or the duration of such outbursts. The system usually evolves around unfiltered CCD magnitude 18.5, but reaches brightnesses around magnitude 15 during outbursts. This is still too faint to be detected by the ASAS survey.

The most recent outburst occurred at the end of July, which is not good timing. Timeresolved photometry performed on 30 and 31 July at CBA Pretoria with unfiltered CCD, showed it to be an eclipsing system with possibly something like superhumps occuring in between eclipses. The derived orbital period was around 0.0890d (+/- 0.0002d).

It is hoped that a next outburst will occur at a better time and that it will be detected early (and timely alerted on) to allow a more dense and complete coverage in order to establish with more certainty its type.

Regards,

Berto Monard / CBA Pretoria
