MM Hya bright outburst!
This short-Porb SU UMa-type dwarf nova is undergoing a bright outburst
(most likely a superoutburst). The last known outbursts date back to 2006
October, and 2006 March superoutburst. Time-resolved observations during
superoutbursts were only undertaken in 1998 and 2001 (and only briefly
in 2006), with much lower quality than in modern observations.
We strongly encourage intensive observations during the present outburst.
During the 2001 superoutburst, double-wave modulations similar to early
superhumps in WZ Sge-type dwarf novae were recorded. The present early
detection would provide an opportunity to detect these modulations.
