Probably the best choices for brighter comp. stars are the following:
Mag. (J2000) V B-V S
Name
===============================================================
94 14 57 34.07 -55 04 25.9 9.381 (0.026) 0.129 (0.024) Tycho-2 HD 131756
97 14 55 56.11 -55 23 34.3 9.665 (0.032) 0.541 (0.035) " HD 131466
94 is about 26' due east of the nova.
Still a gap between 84 and 94, but stars around 8.9-9.0 are lacking in a 1deg field.

Subject: [AAVSO-DIS] Nova Lupi 2011
After imaging this nova on 8 Aug at mag 10.3, tonight I had my first
opportunity to have another 'look' at it. It has brightened considerably.

In generating a chart in AAVSO's VSP, I noticed that the visual sequence is
pretty wobbly for mags brighter than the discovery mag. The nova appears to
be sitting somewhere around midway between the 99 and 84 comp stars at the
moment (marked on image linked above), a big gap of 1.5 magnitudes. Any
chance of a few more comp stars? Thanks.
Cheers -
