Information about the discovery of a bright possible nova in Centaurus by J. Seach, Chatsworth Island, NSW Australia, designated PNV J13544700-5909080 was posted here. I confirm the presence of the bright object (R ~ 5 mag) on 0.3-s R-band images obtained using the Danish 1.54-m telescope at La Silla on 2013 Dec. 3.361 UT. The object is located at R.A. = 13h54m45s.34, Decl. = -59o09'04".2 (equinox 2000.0).
The object is very probably identical with a ~ 15 mag star USNO-B1.0 0308-0442031 = 2MASS 13544534-5909040 = UCAC4 155-128029, which I identify as a probable progenitor of the possible nova. If the identification is correct, the estimated amplitude of the outburst is ~ 10 mag, which is consistent with the outburst of a classical nova.
Comparison of a combined R-band image from the Danish 1.54-m telescope (left) with DSS-2 red image (right) is posted here: http://www.asu.cas.cz/~asteroid/PNV_J13544700-5909080.png
Based on data collected with the Danish 1.54-m telescope at the ESO La Silla Observatory.
