There is a blue star in DSS plates not present in CMC15.

There are 4 stars in CMC15 close to that blue one, which is at 17 14 
42.56 -29 43 45.2, that is 3" to the North of the reported position and 1.4" 
W of the GALEX source

I transformed CMC15 data for the 4 stars in the new nova suspect field. It 
is a reddened field.
The 4 stars have V-Rc close to +2.5. The candidate has V-Rc 0.4-0.5.

I estimate the following magnitudes for the candidate in DSS plates:

1957.3210 17.0 B 16.65 Rc
1958.2930 17.1 B 16.65 Rc
1986.3422 16.65 Rc
1992.5517 16.65 Rc

The USNO-A2.0 positions are not coincident with the CMC15 positions so it is 
dificcult to make cross-IDs, USNO data seem to be blended. No catalogued 
star is at the actual position of the blue star seen in DSS images.
The CMC15 positions do match the DSS images.

If this is the variable star, the amplitude is 6 mag. so it is likely a CV.
