ASASSN-14ei: EI Psc-type or AM CVn-type again
Josch Hambsch has reported new observations.
The object stayed in bright state up to July 28 and
then faded to mag 15. The short-term modulations
reported in [vsnet-alert 17556] were present throughout
the observation and the coherence has been confirmed.
The best period is 0.02891(2) d, suggesting that
this object is again an EI Psc-type or and AM CVn-type
object below the period minimum! Further observations
(including spectroscopy) are encouraged.
By using the CRTS data, we have identified the possible
orbital period of 0.027808 d. If this is the true
orbital period, the fractional superhump excess (0.7%
for likely stage C superhumps) makes ASASSN-14ei
an object similar to SBS 1108+574 (the superhump excess
favors an EI Psc-type).
ASASSN-14ei is potentially one of the brightest
(in outburst) objects in this group and will be a very
promising target for further detailed studies.
