We have discovered new cataclysmic variable MASTER OT
J213809.25+212824.0 which is probably too faint for time-resolved
photometry (17.1 in outburst, r=20.7 at minimum). However, it is worth
reporting because it is located just 12" from the known variable star
BW Pegasi (range 14.1-15.2, P=1.58392d in GCVS). Not many CVs have
such a close variable companion!
The discovery was published in ATel #6477
<http://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=6477> together with two
other variable objects of different types. The details of new CV are
as follows:
SDSS J213809.26+212823.8 (u=21.19 g=21.00 r=20.66 i=20.64 z=20.50)
http://skyserver.sdss3.org/dr8/en/tools/explore/obj.asp?id=1237680306392858892
GALEX J213809.2+212824 (FUV=18.94 NUV=18.63) caught in outburst by GALEX
Color-combined DSS finder chart:
http://master.sai.msu.ru/static/OT/J213809+212824-BRIR.jpg (10'x10'
FOV).
New CV is marked by vertical dashes, and BW Peg is labeled with an arrow.
Curiously enough, BW Peg is brighter than the CV in near-ultraviolet
(NUV=17.57-17.91) but much fainter in far-ultraviolet (FUV=21.15).
