ASASSN-14jf (ATEL)
The speed of decline between Oct. 20 and 22 looks slower
than in WZ Sge-type dwarf novae in the earliest stage.

During the ongoing All Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae (ASAS-SN or
"Assassin"), using data from the double 14-cm "Cassius" telescope in Cerro
Tololo, Chile, we discovered a new transient source
in the constellation of Pictor:
Object RA (J2000) DEC (J2000) Disc. UT Date Disc. V mag
ASASSN-14jf 06:06:02.72 -60:39:41.0 2014-10-22.34 13.3
ASASSN-14jf was discovered at V=13.3 in "Cassius" images taken on 2014-10-22.34,
and it is also detected in images taken on 2014-10-20.36 with V=13.1, but
it is not present (V>17.0) in images taken on 2014-10-13.28. At the position
of the transient, Vizier reports a match to a faint B=21.2 USNO-B1.0 source,
as well as a nearby GALEX NUV=20.9 source.
Given the large amplitude of its outburst, this transient may be a WZ Sge-type
dwarf nova. Follow-up observations are encouraged.
We thank LCOGT and its staff for their continued support of ASAS-SN. For

Homepage</a> and the list of all <a href=http://www.astronomy.ohio-state.edu/~assassin/transients.html>ASAS-SN
transients</a>.
