Dear colleagues,
I have just concluded (2016, Apr 23/24) an unfiltered CCD photometry session of 1RXS_J161659.5+620014. Observations were made at CBA Belgium Observatory, using a 0.35-m f/6.3 telescope and STT-3200ME CCD camera, under initially clear skies (with moonlight). The resulting light curve shows the presence of large superhumps, establishing this target as a new SU UMa-type dwarf nova. The amplitude is approx 0.36 mag. A period analysis using the ANOVA, Lomb-Scargle and PDM methods (Peranso), yields a combined period of 0.0695 +/- 0.0008d. The object currently is at mag 14.9.
Further observations are evidently encouraged.
Observations will be sent to CBA and VSNET for further analysis.
Best regards
Tonny
