Dear colleagues,
I have just concluded (2016, Aug 12/13) an unfiltered CCD photometry session of ASASSN-16is. Observations were made at CBA Belgium Observatory, using a 0.35-m f/6.3 telescope and STT-3200ME CCD camera, under clear skies (with moonlight). The resulting light curve shows the presence of small amplitude double-waved modulations, which might be attributed to early superhumps. To know for sure, further observations of this object are needed. The amplitude is approx 0.09 mag. A period analysis using the ANOVA, Lomb-Scargle and PDM methods (Peranso), yields a combined period of 0.0581 +/- 0.0015d. The object currently is at mag 15.2 (unfiltered).
Further observations are evidently encouraged.
Observations will be sent to CBA and VSNET for further analysis.
Best regards
Tonny
