We obtained an optical spectrum of the CV candidate ASASSN-16mg (see <a
href="http://www.astronomy.ohio-state.edu/~assassin/transients.html">ASAS-SN
transients list</a>) on UT Oct. 29.15 with WFCCD mounted on the du Pont
2.5m telescope at Las Campanas Observatory. The spectrum shows a blue continuum
with a series of He I lines in absorption. This spectrum is characteristic
of AM CVn systems in eruption. Follow-up observations are encouraged.
