Dear colleagues,
I have just concluded the analysis of my 2017, Jul 02/03 unfiltered CCD photometry session of ASASSN-17il. Observations were made at CBA Belgium Observatory, using a 0.40-m f/10.0 telescope and STT-3200ME CCD camera, under a (mostly) clear sky. The resulting light curve clearly shows the presence of superhumps with an amplitude of 0.3 mag. A period analysis using the ANOVA, Lomb-Scargle and PDM methods (Peranso), yields a combined preliminary superhump period of 0.078 +/- 0.004d, hence establishing this object as a new SU UMa type dwarf nova. The object was at mag 15.5 (unfiltered) on Jul 03rd. The large uncertainty on the period is the result of the short timespan of my observations (I could barely observe one superhump cycle).
Observations will be sent to CBA and VSNET for further analysis.
Best regards
Tonny
