Dear colleagues,

I have just concluded the analysis of my 2017, Nov 22/23 unfiltered CCD photometry session of ASASSN-17pm. Observations were made at CBA Belgium Observatory, using a 0.40-m f/10.0 telescope and STT-3200ME CCD camera, under a clear sky (which is now becoming overcast). The resulting light curve clearly shows the presence of large superhumps with an amplitude of 0.35 mag. A period analysis using the ANOVA, Lomb-Scargle and PDM methods (Peranso), yields a combined preliminary superhump period of 0.0586 +/- 0.0008d, hence establishing this object as a new SU UMa type dwarf nova. The object was at mag 13.05 (unfiltered) on Nov 22nd.

The profile of the superhumps shows some additional modulations, which might point to a WZ Sge type dwarf nova, but more observations are needed before concluding.

Observations will be sent to AAVSO, CBA and VSNET for further analysis.

Best regards
Tonny
