Dear colleagues,
I have just concluded the analysis of my 2018, Jul 31/Aug 01 unfiltered CCD photometry session of ASASSN-18qf. Observations were made at CBA Extremadura Observatory (Spain), using a 0.40-m f/5.1 telescope and SX-46 CCD camera, under a very clear sky.
The resulting detrended light curve shows the presence of a double-waved superhump structure most likely pointing to the WZ Sge-type nature of this dwarf nova. To be confirmed through further observations. The superhumps have an amplitude of 0.07 mag (only). A period analysis using the ANOVA and PDM methods (Peranso), yields a very preliminary superhump period of 0.0604 +/- 0.0010d. The object was at mag 14.1 (CV) on Jul 31st.
Astrometry: 17h 10m 33.87s, +16° 18’ 52.5” (with 0.2” residual).
Observations will be sent to AAVSO, CBA and VSNET for further analysis.
Follow-up observations are strongly recommended to analyse this system.
Best regards
Tonny
