Dear colleagues,
I have just concluded the analysis of my 2018, Aug 19/20 and Aug 20/21 (observations still ongoing) V-filtered CCD photometry sessions of CY CrB. Observations were made at CBA Extremadura Observatory (Spain), using a 0.40-m f/5.1 telescope and SX-46 CCD camera, under clear skies.
The resulting light curve of Aug 19/20 did not reveal superhumps, but the intermediate light curve of Aug 20/21 clearly shows the presence of superhumps with an amplitude of 0.17 mag. A very preliminary period analysis using the ANOVA and PDM methods (Peranso), yields a combined superhump period of 0.066 +/- 0.002d. The object was at mag 12.35 (V) on Aug 20th. I will publish my preliminary lightcurve on the “Cataclysmic Variables” Facebook page.
Astrometry: 16h 22m 12.47s, +34° 11’ 46.6” (with 0.3” residual).
Observations will be sent to AAVSO, CBA and VSNET for further analysis.
Follow-up observations are highly recommended to further refine the superhump period.
Best regards
Tonny
