It's not known when the outburst exactly started (in the period 21-27 aug) but ASASSN-18tf showed superhumps last night with amplitude 0.3 mag around a mean magnitude of 15.84CR. A preliminary period of 0.0680d (+/- 0.0002) was derived.

The transient was observed continuously over a period of 0.2d (JD 8360.27-8360.47) at CBA Kleinkaroo under good observing conditions and a 2/3 moon.

In view of a 6 mag outburst magnitude, this transient is expected to be a WZ Sge type dwarf nova.

Further observations are intended.
