[vsnet-alert 23612] RY Sgr Possible Fade

Further to vsnet-rcb 852 of 19 July 2019, the RCB star RY Sgr is again
fainter than usual and this may signal the onset of a decline, as per the
following recent visual observations:

SGRRY   20190924.379     68           WPX

SGRRY   20191003.443     73           WPX

SGRRY   20191008.491     81           WPX

 

RY Sgr returned to maximum after becoming unusually faint (vsnet-rcb 852)
during the July pulsation cycle.  The current fade is close to 2 cycles
after the July dip and this therefore appears to be a good candidate for the
onset of a deep decline.  Further observations are needed to confirm if this
eventuates.
