Dear colleagues,

I have just concluded the analysis of my 2019, Nov 16/17 unfiltered CCD photometry session of ASASSN-19abi. Observations were made at CBA Extremadura Observatory, using a 0.40-m f/5.1 telescope and SX-46 CCD camera, under clear skies.

The resulting light curve clearly shows the presence of early superhumps with a very large amplitude of 0.71 mag, hence establishing ASASSN-19abi as a new WZ Sge-type dwarf nova. A period analysis using the ANOVA, Lomb-Scargle and PDM methods (Peranso), yields a combined superhump period of 0.0567 +/- 0.0014d. The object was at mag 14.7 (CV) on Nov 16th.

Astrometry (J2000.0):

RA = 22h08m57.51s

Dec = -09°04’50.7”

Residuals: 0.2”

Observations will be sent to AAVSO, CBA and VSNET for further analysis.

Follow-up observations are evidently highly recommended.

Best regards
Tonny
