Possible stronger irradiation effect in SS Cyg ?
The baseline of X-ray flux of SS Cyg is now 10 times larger than usual
and the optical quiescent level is also rising (by ~ 2 times).
In the usual quiescent state, the orbital light curve is dominated
by the orbital hump and the ellipsoidal modulation.
I'm wondering that another component now reveals on the orbital light curve
due to the irradiation on the surface of the secondary star because
the irradiation effect would be stronger by increasing hard X-rays.
I checked the AAVSO data, but the recent observation is not enough
to derive the orbital profile.
The optical photometry in the quiescent state of this star seems
interesting.
I may post an AAVSO alert later to request filter observations.
