Dear colleagues,

I just inspected my 2020, Oct 17/18 light curve with my newest CCD observations of ZTF20acjpwas = AT 2020wup. It clearly shows the presence of a double-waved superhump structure, indicating (as I suspected in my email below), the WZ Sge-type nature of this dwarf nova.

I will send my observations to AAVSO, CBA and VSNET for further analysis.

Follow-up observations are recommended to refine the superhump period.

Best regards
Tonny

Subject: (cba:chat) ZTF20acjpwas: new SU UMa-type dwarf nova

Dear colleagues,

I have just finished the analysis of my unfiltered CCD observations of ZTF20acjpwas = AT 2020wup, obtained on 2020, Oct 16/17 at CBA Extremadura Observatory, using a 0.40-m f/5.1 telescope and SX-46 CCD camera under clear skies.

Superhumps with an amplitude of 0.27 mag are clearly visible in my light curve, establishing ZTF20acjpwas as a new SU UMa-type dwarf nova (considering the large outburst amplitude of 7 mag, a classification as WZ Sge-type dwarf nova is not excluded). A period analysis using the ANOVA, Lomb-Scargle, Generalized-Lomb-Scargle and PDM methods (Peranso 3.0, in Beta testing), yields a combined superhump period of 0.0592 +/- 0.0008d. The object was at mag 15.2 (CV) on Oct 17th.

I will send my observations to AAVSO, CBA and VSNET for further analysis.

Follow-up observations are recommended to refine the superhump period.

Best regards
Tonny
