   Since the object doesn't look very red (reddened), there is
also a possibility of a large-amplitude dwarf nova (and other
eruptive) outburst.  Multi-color photometry and spectroscopy
are highly encouraged.  Until proven to be a genuine nova,
we would also encourage time-resolved photometry to search
for short-term variation.  We recommend to use the unambiguous
name ASAS174422-3416.5 rather than nova something.
