[vsnet-alert 8905] Possible Nova in Ophiuchus 20060406

Hello All,

While visually observing the RCB star V517 Oph I have noticed a mag 10 star
not previously seen or charted.  A check of the Asteroid Checker suggests no
bright asteroids in this area (9096 Hovland at mag 18) and no movement has
been noted during one hour.  Confirmation is requested (to avoid
considerable embarrassment.).

Approximate position 17h 15m 55s -29d 15' 45" (2000) read from The Sky
software display.  This object is situated 8mm (about 40 arcsec) SE of the
comparison star m124 on VSS RASNZ chart 647 for V517 Oph
