The following description by Munari et al. (CBET 596)
"It took a whole century for BF Cyg to return toward quiescence
following the outburst that peaked at B = 9.7 in 1894 ...
The last time that BF Cyg was seen this bright in the blue was
around 1925, during its decline from the 1898 eruption"
might be slightly misleading. BF Cyg has not been on monotonous
decline from the 1898 outburst, but experienced symbiotic
outbursts. The most recent one was around 1989-1990, reaching
mv=10. The early 1989 rise was quite rapid (as in the present
outburst), preceded by smaller brightening (notably in 1986 and
1987).

The object has been calm since then.
