Rod Stubbings reported recurrent "very bright peaks"
in V2051 Oph during the current superoutburst.
The observed interval (2.04 d) is neither multiples of
the orbital or superhump period, suggesting that the
peaks don't directly reflect superhump maxima nor some
kind of orbital signature. However, the beat period
(2.2 d) is considerably close to the observed interval,
which might imply high-amplitude humps (superhumps) are
strongly modulated by the beat period. Such effects have
been recorded in other deeply eclipsing SU UMa-type dwarf
novae, but the case of V2051 Oph looks extreme.
Further observations are strongly encouraged.
Time-resolved photometry during the early stage of
future superoutbursts would be valuable.
