V455 And = HS 2331+3905: dramatic change in the profile of early superhumps
As already reported by a number of observers, the signature
of early superhumps became remarkably weak on Sep 11. The humps
re-emerged on Sep 12 and probably has grown on Sep 13.
The profile, however, has been rather dramatically different
from the initial "doubly humped" one and is now dominated by
broad "dip-like" (resembling broad eclipses?) feature lasting for
orbital phase of 0.2 and broad maximum between the dips. Although
more detailed timing analysis is necessary before conclusion, the
timing of these dips roughly coincide with primary (sharper) minima
of early superhumps. The rate of general decline from the outburst
maximum became systematically slower around Sep 11, and faster after
then, suggesting that additional source of light was responsible
for the dramatical change in the hump profile.
More comprehensive analysis will be presented by Maehara-san.
