VSNET Weekly Campaign Summary

*** Headlines ***

New eclipsing SU UMa-type dwarf nova! ----- Ha 0242-2802

*** Last week news ***

(new targets)
  Ha 0242-2802 (RA = 02h42m34s.8, Dec = -28d02'43")

    B. Monard reported an outburst of Ha 0242-2802 at ~15.8mag on
Jan 6. According to Howell et al.(astro-ph/0210432) the quiescent
spectrum of this object resembles those of WZ Sge (vsnet-campaign-dn
2911, 2912, vsnet-alert 8789). This is an eclipsing system having
an orbital period of 107 min (vsnet-alert 8790).
    B. Monard took a time-series observation on Jan 6. He reported
the outburst amplitude of 4.0mag and an eclipse depth of 0.7mag
(vsnet-alert 8791). D. Nogami performed an analysis of the
time-series data taken by B. Monard and H. Maehara. He found clear
superhumps in the light curve, which has established that this
object is one of rare members of deeply eclipsing SU UMa-type dwarf
  novae (vsnet-alert 8792).

  ROTSE3 J154041.5-002703.2 (RA = 15h40m41s.5, Dec = -00d27'03".2)

According to ATEL #693, the ROTSE-III system detected a new CV
candidate, ROTSE3 J154041.5-002703.2. It was found at 15.2 mag
on Jan 9. The light curve of the outburst is reminiscent of a
superoutburst of SU UMa-type dwarf novae. While the current
outburst looks close to the end, monitoring for the next outburst
  is encouraged (vsnet-campaign-dn 4576).

  NSV 19448 (RA = 12h39m07.89s Dec = -45d33'44".2)

    S. Otero reported that this peculiar object is brightening
again. Based on the ASAS-3 database, four brightenings lasting ~40
days were previously recorded before the current one (April-May
  2001, March-May 2003, March-April 2004 and April-May,2005).
  S. Otero found it to be an eclipsing binary of the EB-type having an
orbital period of 0.893025 d. For its peculiar brightening
behavior, S. Otero proposes that there may be a background mira on
the line of sight of an EB-type eclipsing binary (vsnet-alert 8794).

(old targets)
  Nova LMC 2005 (RA = 05h10m33s.79, Dec = -69d12'35".2)

    B. Heathcote reported a possible brightening of this nova on Jan 2
  (V=13.36; vsnet-alert 8786).

  TT Ari (RA = 02h06m53s.09, Dec = +15d17'43".)0

    I. Andronov et al. reported that the object is now in a
standstill-like state at R=10.732, which is brighter than the
previous standstill. Their period analysis shows a most prominent
peak corresponding to the (quasi-)periodic variations with an
effective period of 0.01439d=20.7min and semi-amplitude of
0.061mag. The superhump variability is less prominent
(semi-amplitude 0.033mag and period 0.128d). This is typical for
the "negative superhump" state observed before 1997 (Tremko et
  al. 1996, Andronov et al. 1999) (vsnet-campaign 1637).
