># SN 2005cs (13:29:52.85, +47:10:36.3 (J2000.0, KAIT position), offset
># = 67" due south) is located on the southern arm of "Whirlpool
># Galaxy" M 51. On the pre-discovery image, there is a bright star
># cluster and H II region. It is possibly a gravitational-collapse of
># a massive star, but the prompt spectral classification is urgently
># needed, as well as the followup photometry.

The CfA team revealed that it is indeed a young type II SN.

Sincerely,
Hitoshi Yamaoka, Kyushu Univ., Japan
