Thanks for checking that out Bill, this one is still the 'oldest confirmed' known nova, so there's a bit of history there!
I had a look with my 8 inch early this morning, I too used the aavso 'f' chart, I still need a bigger scope!
Maybe we should look at this one more often.

Interested by your post, I imaged V841 with our club's CCD camera and
V filter. Using the 14.5 comp star from the AAVSO's Preliminary f
chart, I got:
V841 OPH JUN 30.2042 2453551.7042 13.64V DIL
The chart has the magnitude range as 4.2-13.49V, so this doesn't seem
to be far off the mark.
