John needs to decide if he really wants to influence events in the field of variable star observing or if sniping from the sidelines is enough for him. When John does make a valid point the impact is diluted by his excess verbiage and his almost fanatical desire to “score points” off other people. 

That said there are times when I find myself agreeing with John on issues where he seems to be a lone voice in the wilderness. However like Arne I have no intention of debating any of these issues with John and I can only echo Arne in saying about John "Most everything else he states is pure supposition and does not warrant a response."
