TO: All INTEGRAL-SPIACS recipients
RE; Lots of SPIACS Notices
DT: 04 May 09

If you do not receive GCN/INTEGRAL-SPIACS Notices
you can hit delete now.

At 13:02 UT 02may09, the INTEGRAL IBAS system started sending SPI-ACS Notices to GCN
at an average rate of one every 3-5 minutes.

Given the weekend and day-night cycles, initial communications with INTEGRAL Operations
did not yield an timely reply. So I activated the blocked-to-world filter
for the SPIACS Notice type at 12:27 UT 03may09.

INTEGRAL Operations is now aware of the problem, and they have blocked
the generation/sending of the SPIACS messages to GCN.
The generation of the SPIACS messages had somethingto do with the SPI instrument
being in an annealing mode of operations. When the anealing is done,
they will re-activate the SPIACS message type at their end. (I have already
removed the block-to-world filter at the GCN end since the messages
are no longer being generated.)

Sincerely,
Scott

1) When requesting changes to your configuration,
it helps if you refer to your site_name.
2) If your site has more than one recipient (ie a list),
please review the list to see if anybody should be deleted;
(the volume of bounce-back-to-gcn emails gets large after a while).
3) If a new contact_person has taken over for the project, please inform me.
4) If your site is no longer active, please inform me.
