[vsnet-newvar 6252] ASASSN-17of: new SU UMa type dwarf nova

Dear colleagues,
I have concluded an analysis of an additional (short) unfiltered CCD photometry session of ASASSN-17of, obtained on 2017, Nov 10/11. Same equipment as in the announcement below. Also this time, the sky initially was clear, but after approx. 1hr clouds rolled in.
The combined data sets (Nov 07/08 and Nov 10/11) allowed me to much refine the superhump period. The improved value is 0.0591 +/- 0.0024d, based on a combination of the ANOVA, Lomb-Scargle and PDM methods of Peranso. Superhumps showed an amplited of 0.22 mag. The object was at mag 16.4 (unfiltered) on Nov 10th.
Observations will be sent to CBA and VSNET for further analysis.
Follow-up observations are recommended.

I have just concluded the analysis of my 2017, Nov 07/08 unfiltered CCD photometry sessions of ASASSN-17of. Observations were made at CBA Belgium Observatory, using a 0.40-m /f10.0 telescope and STT-3200ME CCD camera. The sky initially was clear, but after approx. 1.5hrs became overcast.
The resulting light curve shows the presence of a superhump with an amplitude of 0.21 mag. Due to the very short duration of my session, it is difficult to establish an accurate superhump period. A very preliminary analysis, using the ANOVA method (Peranso), yields a superhump period of 0.066 +/- 0.006d, but additional observations are required to more precisely determine Psh. The object clearly is a new SU UMa-type dwarf nova, and was at mag 16.0 (unfiltered) on Nov 7th.
Observations will be sent to CBA and VSNET for further analysis.
Follow-up observations are strongly recommended.
