All,

I collected 3.5hrs of unfiltered CCD photometry of ASASSN-20pl last night using my CBA Extremadura 0.40-m f/5.1 telescope under clear skies. The resulting light curve is shown below, as well as the detrended light curve (zoomed-in on Y axis). There are multiple small-amplitude irregular, and apparently aperiodic, modulations in the light curve. I tried several period analysis methods using Peranso 3.0, but none of them produce a significant period (way too high FAP = False Alarm Probability values). The likely WZ Sge-type classification mentioned in [vsnet-outburst 26222] seems premature, and more observations are needed to establish the nature of this variable star.

Best regards

Tonny

ASASSN-20pl: likely a new WZ Sge-type dwarf nova

We, Kyoto Univ. Obs. observed ASASSN-20pl for ~ 2 hrs and detected a double-peaked profile with the amplitude of ~0.04 mag, which can be an early superhump.

Still need more observations to confirm this variation as early superhumps and determine the period.

Best,

Yusuke

Time-resolved photometry is required.

Clear skies,
