According to cvnet, the candidate CV Lanning 386
has brigthtened (Steve Brady's report).

The object is located at 21:08:34.03 +39:05:35.3

Accoording to PASP 207, 114 (2002), the spectrum shows
a blue continuum and HeI absorption lines as well as late
K-M features and broad Balmer emission lines.

According to this literature, the DIB feature suggests
Av of 1.5+/-0.2, which is a bit too large for a usual CV
(the distance estimate in the paper is not very in
contradiction with a luminous CV, though).
This object may not be a CV, but a different class of
emission-line object with a higher luminosity.

Lick NPM2 catalog gives B=17.09 and B-V=0.03, fairly
consistent with the CV classification.

   USNO-B catalog gives a bright I mag (15.53).

   2MASS J=15.192, H=14.728, Ks=14.532.
   UCAC2 J=13.281, Ks=12.688 (in outburst?)

Even considering the variable nature of the object,
photometric data (esp. in colors) are rather confusing.

Yet another FY Per-like or V747 Cyg-like object??
