I note from Dave Bishops web site that observations of the 2011B supernova should be sent to this e-mail address.
Last night myself and two local astronomers from Bristol in the UK observed this supernova.
I first observed it on 25th Jan and estimated the magnitude at 12.8 based on a comparison with field stars.
Last night the SN was in my view slightly brighter at mag 12.5. Based on an absolute mag of -19.5 I understand that gives a distance of 70m ly which corresponds with the distance of NGC 2655.
Conditions were clear with mag 5 stars just visible.
Whilst I new I could see this galaxy as I have observed it within my list of 305 to date I have seen with my 10 inch dob, I had never seen a SN.
I picked up the object target from Dave Bishops web site which I check from time to time.
Both the other astronomers last night we amazed at the view of the SN. As they both are astrophysicists I then had a glorious explanation of a type 1A supernova!
I hope our observations are of use.
