EG Cnc: short rebrightening
Osaka Kyoiku U. team, Geoff Stone, Tonny Vanmunster, Stephen M. Brincat,
Arto Oksanen, Itoh-san and Kyoto U. team have reported the observations.
The object showed the first rebrightening on Oct. 24 with superhumps whose
period is about 0.0605 (1) d. The maximum magnitude was 13.3 mag. Then the
object faded to16.5 mag on Oct. 27.75 but brightened again to 15.3 mag on
Oct. 28.75. The duration of the first rebrightening is longer than 2 d, whereas
that of this rebrightening looks shorter than 1.5 day.
Multiple-rebrightening objects sometimes short rebrightenings like this in the
dip phase. In order not to miss them, we need more continuous observations.
Of course, snapshots are also very effective.
