Dear colleagues,
I just finished analysing my unfiltered CCD observations of ASASSN-20ci, obtained last night (2020, Feb 26/27) at CBA Extremadura Observatory, using a 0.40-m f/5.1 telescope and SX-46 CCD camera, under very clear skies.
The resulting lightcurve clearly shows the presence of superhumps, with an amplitude of 0.18 mag, hence establishing ASASSN-20ci as a new SU UMa-type dwarf nova. A period analysis using the ANOVA, Lomb-Scargle and PDM methods (Peranso), yields a combined superhump period of 0.0630 +/- 0.0006d. The object was at mag 16.1 (CV) on Feb 27th.
Observations will be sent to AAVSO, CBA and VSNET for further analysis.
Follow-up observations are highly recommended to refine the superhump period and to study its further evolution.
Best regards
Tonny
