According to Alan Plummer (via AVSON), the cataclysmic variable
EF Tuc (= EC 23593-6724) is bright (was bright a month ago??).

  YYYYMMDD(UT) mag observer
  20070716.694 142 (Alan Plummer)
  20070802.494 125 (Alan Plummer)

ASAS-3 data show maxima of similar brightness about once per year.
For example, the 2001 July maximum reached V=12.27. The light curve,
however, looks like that of a Mira-type variable(!?). The object
was also recorded bright in 2005-2006. On 2005 Oct 4, ASAS-3 recorded
V=12.84 (V=14.23 on Sep 30) and the object faded slowly after that.
The object stayed more constant around V=13 in 2006 May and June.
The light variation looks very atypical for a dwarf nova or a usual
NL-type variable. I wonder what is the nature of the object, or
am I looking at a different object on ASAS-3?
