Dear colleagues,

According to IAUC 8898, the apparent nova which was initially 
discovered as a bright X-ray transient by XMM-Newton satellite 
on Oct. 8 (Read et al. http://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=1282)
has been given the GCVS designation V598 Pup.

Please use PUPV598 for the report.
