Dear colleagues,

I have just concluded the analysis of my 2018, Apr 03/04 unfiltered CCD photometry session of ASASSN-18gp (aka 2QZ J112555.7-001639). Observations were made at CBA Belgium Observatory, using a 0.40-m f/10.0 telescope and ST-10XME CCD camera, under a sky with strong moonlight and increasing clouds. The resulting light curve covers 0.082d only (small time span), yet it shows the presence of a prominent superhump with an amplitude of 0.21 mag. A period analysis using the ANOVA, Lomb-Scargle and PDM methods (Peranso), yields a very preliminary combined superhump period of 0.061 +/- 0.001d, hence establishing this object as a new SU UMa type dwarf nova. The object was at mag 13.80 (CV) on Apr 03rd. It may of course turn out that the object ultimately is a UGWZ type dwarf nova.

Follow-up observations are strongly recommended to more accurately establish the superhump period.

Observations will be sent to AAVSO, CBA and VSNET for further analysis.

Best regards
Tonny
