[vsnet-alert 21784] PNV J17180658-3204279: possible nova (11.0 mag) in Scorpius

The sky area of the transient is extremely crowded: inspection of all the 
digitized plates (8) available from the Space Telescope Science Institute shows 
no evident variable star, nor any very red star near the reported position.
