Dear colleagues,
I have just concluded the analysis of my 2018, Feb 15/16 unfiltered CCD photometry session of ASASSN-18ci. Observations were made at CBA Belgium Observatory, using a 0.40-m f/10.0 telescope and STT-3200ME CCD camera, under a very clear sky. The resulting light curve clearly shows the presence of superhumps with an amplitude of 0.23 mag. A period analysis using the ANOVA, Lomb-Scargle and PDM methods (Peranso), yields a combined superhump period of 0.0673 +/- 0.0006d, hence establishing this object as a new SU UMa type dwarf nova. The object was at mag 17.10 (unfiltered) on Feb 15th.
Observations will be sent to AAVSO, CBA and VSNET for further analysis.
Note that this object originally was reported to the TNS as ASASSN-18ci but labelled ASASSN-18cn in the ASAS-SN transients alert page by mistake. The original name has been recovered as the primary name.
Best regards
Tonny
