Dear colleagues,

I have just concluded the analysis of my 2018, Feb 16/17 unfiltered CCD photometry session of MASTER OT J024850.29+401449.5. Observations were made at CBA Belgium Observatory, using a 0.40-m f/10.0 telescope and STT-3200ME CCD camera. The sky initially was clear, but then cirrus clouds forced me to stop the session. The resulting light curve shows the presence of superhumps with an amplitude of 0.16 mag. A period analysis using the ANOVA, Lomb-Scargle and PDM methods (Peranso), yields a combined superhump period of 0.0578 +/- 0.0025d, hence establishing this object as a new SU UMa type dwarf nova. The object was at mag 16.80 (unfiltered) on Feb 16th.

Given the short baseline and scatter on the final part of the session, follow-up observations are highly recommended to more accurately establish the superhump period.

Observations will be sent to AAVSO, CBA and VSNET for further analysis.

Best regards
Tonny
