VSNET Weekly Campaign Summary

*** Headlines ***

The ASAS3 system discovered a nova! ----- V477 Sct

*** Last week news ***

(new targets)
  V477 Sct (RA = 18h38m43s, Dec = -12d16'.3)
   (= Nova Sct 2005 No.2 = ASAS 183843-1216.3)

    G. Pojmanski reported the discovery of a possible nova by the
ASAS3 system. The object was first recorded at V=12.013 on Oct 11,
  and brightened to V=10.419 on Oct 13 (vsnet-alert 8718).
  M. Fujii took a spectra of this object on Oct 16, reporting that the
H_alpha and H_beta are broad and strong in emission (FWHM=2900km/sec
for Halpha). The data possibly suggests a fast nova. Emission
lines of [O I] (strong) and possibly Ca II, Mg II were also
recorded. It is a typical spectrum of a fast nova slightly after
the maximum (vsnet-campaign-nova 1768). The GCVS name "V477 Sct"
was officially applied for this nova (vsnet-alert 8722). The object
  was at 16th mag in the V-band on Oct 16 (vsnet-campaign-nova 1767,
  vsnet-alert 8724).

  TSS J004420.7+412311 (RA = 00h44m20s.7, Dec = +41d23'11")

According to ATel #627, R. Quimby et al. reported the discovery of
an optical transient near M31 by the ROTSE-IIIb system. The object
was about 16.7 and 16.2 mag on Oct 11 and 12, respectively. It was
not detected in ROTSE-IIIb data from Oct. 10.15 UT (limiting mag
  about 17.3) (vsnet-campaign-nova 1766).

  SN 2005gl (RA = 00h49m50s.12, Dec = +32d16'56".1)

According to IAUC 8615, SN 2005gl was discovered in NGC 266
by T. Puckett et al. on an image taken on Oct 5 (18.2mag).
  Y. Sano independently discovered the supernova on an image taken on
Oct 12, when the object brightened to 16.7mag
  (vsnet-campaign-sn 1043).

(old targets)
  V476 Sct (RA = 18h32m04s.75, Dec = -06d43'34".3)
   (= Nova Sct 2005)

    K. Nakajima reported V=13.37 on Oct 16 (vsnet-campaign-nova 1767).

  V1663 Aql (RA = 19h05m12s.50, Dec = +05d14'12".0)

    K. Nakajima reported Rc=15.05 on Oct 16 (vsnet-campaign-nova 1767).
