Dear colleagues,
Mike Simonsen reported his detection of an outburst of
ROTSE3 J151453.6+020934.2. This star is a promising
candidate of an SU UMa star, judging from the outburst
light curve in the discovery paper (Rykoff et al., 2004,
IBVS, No. 5559). This outburst had a precursor and
lasted over two weeks accompanied by a long fading tail.
Interestingly, one rebrightening was caught about one
week after the end of the main outburst. Since the
quiescence magnitude is V~20.1, the outburst amplitude
seems to exceed 5 mag.
Confirmation of the current outburst and time-resolved
photometry are strongly encouraged!
Best regards,
Daisaku Nogami
