Alan:
Put the coordinates and time of your observation into the MPChecker at:
http://scully.harvard.edu/~cgi/CheckMP
This will tell you if there is a Minor Planet in the vicinity.

Subject: [vsnet-chat 7243] unidentified ob.
There is a bright fuzzy patch that I can't I.D on my charts, at around 5
hr 20 ' -65 14'. A bit to the south of U Dor - does any one know of a comet
or bright galaxy there? I have NGC 1892 close, but this object seems
brighter.
Thanks. Alan Plummer.
